A pioneer in providing quality life, health and retirement products in Latin America, he is acknowledged as a leading authority on its insurance industry.
Tony began his insurance career in 1966 as an agent and by 1970, he had formed his own agency in Miami, incorporated in 1973 as Business Men’s Insurance Corp. Under his leadership, Business Men’s Insurance has become one of the largest brokerages in the United States, has been nationally recognized in the USA as one of the top 100 Hispanic-owned companies
Over the years as the agency grew and Latin America’s domestic economies improved, he created product and joint ventures to provide for BMI’s policyholders’ expanding needs in life and health insurance and financial services. In 1977, these activities were consolidated under the BMI Financial Group in order to continue expanding services to the organization’s policyholders, agents and partners.
Anthony began his career with BMI in 1985 in the Marketing and Sales Department as assistant to the Marketing Vice President. Subsequently he was promoted to Assistant Vice President, working closely with the international sales force directly coordinating sales and services to the General Agencies throughout Latin America.
In 1990, he accepted the position of Regional Director for a major medical reinsurance management firm headquartered in Germany. His training and responsibilities included product design and tarification, and providing reinsurance support for client companies throughout Latin America.
He returned to the BMI organization in 1994 and was named President of Business Men’s Insurance Corp. in 1995, with overall sales and marketing responsibility for individual and group life and health products. In 1998, the Board of Directors also named him President of BMI Financial Group. In 2004, he assumed the additional responsibilities for President and Chief Executive Officer of Best Meridian Insurance Company and Best Meridian International Insurance Company SPC.
David began his career with BMI in 1992 in the New Business Administration Department. Over the course of the next few years, he explored various fields within the company, he settled claims, analyzed cases for approval in the health underwriting department, and assisted actuaries in product development.
In 1997 he found his passion to be in the Marketing and Sales Department. He worked in this department as assistant Vice President, before becoming promoted to Vice President. In 2005, he was named Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for BMI Financial Group.
Brent career in life insurance spans over 30 years, the first 22 with Crown Life Insurance Company of Canada where as Regional Vice President he was responsible for $30 million in annual premium in addition to heading up the company’s expansion and support operations for Latin America, Europe and the Far East.
He joined BMI’s international brokerage operations in 1991 as Vice President of Marketing. In 1997, he was named President of Best Meridian International, where he successfully introduced variable annuities and variable universal life to the Latin American Business and professional communities. In 1999, he assumed the additional responsibilities for President and Chief Executive Officer of Best Meridian Insurance Company. In 2004, the Board of Directors named him Vice Chairman of the Board of BMI Financial Group, Inc. and Best Meridian Insurance Company.
Manuel began his career in 1979 with Price Waterhouse in San Juan, Puerto Rico as Staff Accountant; later moved to MCM Corporation as Accounting Manager; in 1985 he became Professor of Accounting at the University of Puerto Rico. In 1990 he was relocated to Florida, joining Best Meridian as Accounting Manager and later promoted to Controller. In 1998, he joined Preferred Employers Holdings, Inc. as Corporate Controller. In January 2000, he returned to Best Meridian as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
After graduating with a B.A. degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico, he earned his M.B.A. from Texas A&M University. Member: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Insurance Accounting & Systems Association, and Life Office Management Association.
Andrew received his B.S. in Finance in 2007 and Master of Business Administration in 2009 both from Bentley University. While attending graduate school Andrew began his career in insurance while working with Liberty Mutual Group as a Senior Group Market underwriter. He was responsible for underwriting and managing large group life and disability insurance throughout the United States.
In 2009, he began working with BMI Financial Group, Inc. as Director of International Operations for Central America where he was responsible for starting new operations in Costa Rica and Guatemala. Later in 2010, Andrew assumed the position of Assistant Treasurer and Compliance Officer after becoming a certified anti-money laundering specialist through ACAMS. In 2011, he was appointed Secretary of BMI Financial Group, Inc. and Best Meridian Insurance Company.
