BMI is motivated by the well-being of others, and that is why BMI Run4Health was created, a charity race whose main objective is to support foundations related to the health field. These foundations must present their projects where they will allocate the funds provided, to improve the lifestyle of people with limited resources.
In addition, this initiative brings together families, including pets, friends and sports fans to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
It began in 2022, working with the Ser Feliz Foundation, which received $24,619.98 for the purchase of food supplements and personal hygiene items for children and young people suffering from cancer. In this first edition, more than 500 people participated in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil.
The following year, the second edition continued to support the work of the Ser Feliz Foundation and an alliance was made with the Hermano Miguel Foundation for the construction of its Diabetic Foot Clinic. In this edition, more than 600 people participated in the event between the two cities and the funds raised were $39.0000, which was divided equally between the two Foundations.
We are excited to be preparing our third edition, an opportunity to join us and inspire you to take action for those who really need it, together we can make a difference.
The Ser Feliz Foundation, located in Guayaquil, provides support to more than 400 children and adolescents suffering from cancer. There are children who attend the foundation from 2 months of age. Their promise: “Not to let any child feel alone,” and how do they make it a reality? By promoting recreational activities for the little ones and their close relatives.
BMI's actions in favor of the Se Feliz Foundation
During 2022 and 2023, thanks to the solidarity of the sponsors and participants who were part of BMI Run4Health, nutritional supplements, school supplies, personal hygiene items and various products that the foundation has needed were delivered with the money raised.
The help has not ended. BMI, through its group of volunteers, participated in various activities with the children of the Foundation, including: Children's Cancer Day, Children's Day and Christmas treats. Currently, work is also being done on another initiative that promotes the recycling of plastic bottle caps so that the collected materials can be used to deliver food supplements to the Foundation.
The Brother Miguel Foundation supports people with disabilities by providing medical care to the community and comprehensive rehabilitation to people with some physical or functional deficiency or disability, through the provision of medical and therapeutic services and the implementation of technical aids known as orthoses, prostheses and mobility aids.
Achievements reached
Thanks to the solidarity of sponsors and participants in February 2024, the Foundation was able to acquire part of the equipment for the Diabetic Foot Clinic, an important step forward considering that diabetes is the second cause of amputation in our country.
We will continue to support the Foundation throughout 2024 to complete this project.
The Maria Gracia Foundation, is a non-profit institution with 37 years of service to the community. To date, it has managed to save more than 19,000 lives of low-income children, sheltered in intensive care units in public hospitals inside and outside the city of Guayaquil.
Since 2022, they have focused on working on a project that can help reduce the levels of Chronic Childhood Malnutrition. This is how the META 1001 project was born.
Through a comprehensive action plan together with a multidisciplinary team, we seek to positively impact the lives of children from conception to their first 1,000 days of life, which are the most important to avoid irreversible damage, with the goal of fighting for each child to be 1,001 days old to overcome this terrible condition.
Currently, there are 236 cases of children with this condition; the goal is to reach 250 cases of children and 50 pregnant mothers.
