WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY: IN SEARCH OF INTEGRAL WELL-BEING

Every year, on October 10, World Mental Health Day is commemorated, a date established by the World Health Organization (WHO) with the objectives of raising awareness about its importance, sensitizing the population and encouraging governments to develop strategies for the adequate detection and care of mental problems. It is important to remember that the WHO defines the concept of health not only as the absence of disease, but also a state of complete well-being in the physical, social and, of course, mental spheres.

Here are some tips to help you keep your mind in a more relaxed state:

Be aware of your emotions. Introspection is a necessary task to detect what is the cause that triggers any type of emotion that generates disturbances, and thus to be able to find a solution or seek specialized help.

Express your feelings appropriately. Being silent when something bothers you or saddens you adds tension and causes anxiety, which can affect your personal relationships and your professional life. Speak up, don't leave anything inside, but do it calmly, this will also enhance your ability to deal with stressful situations.

Find the motivation you need. Find out what is important to you in life, be it your job, your family, volunteering or some other recreational activity, focus on that. Having a well-defined goal will help you keep your balance.

Sleep well. Lack of adequate rest contributes to developing a weak immune system, higher levels of stress hormones, anxiety, and depression. At this point, remember not to eat heavy meals too late, reduce caffeine in the second half of the day and disconnect from screens at least 30 minutes before sleeping, this will improve your rest.

Following these recommendations will help you maintain a more relaxed state and better control the way you react to pressing situations. However, if you feel that there is something that exceeds you, do not hesitate to go to a specialist, remember that mental disorders that are considered "normal" or everyday can lead to serious consequences in the long term. Take care of your mind and seek your emotional fulfillment!
