To qualify as a “dependent,” a BMI Care Coordinator will visit the residence and perform an assessment based on six criteria: bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, continence, and mobilizing. If the person is unable to meet two of these six criteria without assistance, they qualify as "dependent." After this, the Care Coordinator will work to design a Plan of Care and after a short waiting period, the insurance will begin to pay the costs on a regular monthly plan.
BMI currently offers three levels of long-term care and disability insurance under the Platinum plan. These include Qualified Custodial Care, Intermediate Custodial Care, and Basic Custodial or Home Care Care.
