THE IMPORTANCE OF COMBATING LABOR DISCRIMINATION

Table of Contents:

Since 2013, March 1 commemorates the Day of Zero Discrimination, an initiative that unifies efforts to guarantee the right of all people to live a full and productive life in an environment where no one is excluded due to their gender identity. , race, age, disability, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, religion or any other reason.

The above concepts are only general labels to encompass the most common discriminatory practices, but there are many other less specific ways in which bullying can be presented, as well as sexual harassment, they are also two forms of discrimination, and they are These are the ones that have reached an alarming degree in recent years.

Unfortunately, discrimination affects all areas of social interaction, and that is why the responsibility to combat it belongs to all of us.

One of the points that requires more attention from both civil society and the responsible authorities is employment discrimination, a problem that has remained far from a fair trial, since for years certain discriminatory compartments have been concealed under hierarchical justifications. Taking advantage of the monetary need of employees is a morally and ethically reprehensible situation.

As work is an inherent activity of human life, building a fair, equitable workplace free of behaviors that degrade dignity should be a priority. No matter what your position, the individual commitment to combat this evil is unshakable.

The following three points are basic aspects that you must consider to create an organization free from discrimination:

Avoid discriminatory language
Job discrimination can begin even before the first interview, for example, during recruitment campaigns do not use words that may reduce the chances of a prospect due to some specific reason unrelated to the professional activity. You should also bear in mind that using an inclusive language within the organization will facilitate the relationship with each and every one of the workers.

Equal wages
Similar jobs must have fair wages, regardless of age, sex, religion, political inclination, or skin color. It seems simple, but this point has been on the discussion tables for years without reaching a conclusive solution. You must consider that, if this aspect is not fulfilled, it will generate a critical instability in the structure of the organization.

Strict policies
Companies must contribute by promoting social values such as equity, equality, solidarity and diversity, as well as implementing internal codes of behavior that protect the fundamental guarantees of all workers. And more importantly, they must guarantee that all discriminatory behaviors will be punished transparently and without qualms.

We can all take action to tackle discrimination; Expressing our discomfort with any action that we consider unfair and supporting colleagues who are victims of this type of decision are fundamental tasks.

Keeping silent or ignoring only makes us accomplices. Work free from discrimination is work that enriches our society in a way that is greater than money.
