IMPROVE FAMILY COMMUNICATION IN 3 EASY STEPS

Table of Contents:

Forming healthy family relationships has always been a great challenge, but achieving it does not require taking complex measures, but a real commitment to change our communication habits. You need to be aware of the attitude we show to our family and critically analyze the way we express ourselves.

The stress of daily life causes us to interact under intense emotional states, causing us to adopt an attitude of condescension or irritability that makes it difficult for us to communicate effectively and in a balanced way.

Most of the problems that occur in families are usually the product of a sum of misunderstandings and individual prejudices that can be solved through communicative exercise.

Try these 3 simple tips that will help you stimulate communication in the Family nucleus and strengthen unity:

1. A break from cell phones and social media is necessary. We know that the internet has become indispensable for most people regardless of their age, but it is urgent to allocate a moment of the day to coexist between parents and children. You can start by proposing that during family meals the cell phone is in the background, and implement a game or activity that celebrates the pleasure of spending time together.

2. Showing interest in the activities of each of the members is the best stimulus to generate bonds of trust. Get involved in their projects, know what their objectives are and how you can help them. It is common to assume that you know your family, but if they do not speak enough how could you really know them?

3. Control your impulses and encourage respectful dialogue. Do not criticize, nor judge, learn to listen and wait until the end to give your opinion and only if it is required. Many times your family needs to express their emotions and not receive advice or judgment. If you constantly let your desire to help or correct get in the way, you are creating an insurmountable barrier between you and your family. No one feels safe talking about their weaknesses with a person who knows all the answers and minimizes problems.

Celebrate this International Day of Families with great enthusiasm, and don't forget to apply these little strategies to get closer and closer to them.
