The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is relatively new, and is defined as the contribution to sustainable human development, through the commitment of companies to improve the social capital and quality of life of the communities where they are present. The impact of an effective corporate social responsibility strategy also translates into corporate benefits, since it allows generating greater competitiveness and sustainability for companies, since it stimulates productivity by improving working conditions and relations with consumers. Corporate social responsibility focuses on 3 key points: caring for the environment, improving the working conditions of its workers and supporting humanitarian causes.
Previously, generating profits was the sole objective of companies, but the new global business awareness suggests that success at the corporate level is only part of the objectives and obligations. Therefore, it is necessary to build a comprehensive strategy where this new operating culture is incorporated into the business model and is also introduced in all areas of the organization.
Throughout its trajectory, BMI has been involved with various causes and organizations in charge of facilitating aid of various kinds to communities in difficulty, as well as a sponsor of initiatives that support the education of people who do not have the economic solvency to continue their path. professional. At this point, we can point out our close collaboration with FIU (Florida International University), with whom we have developed a system of scholarships for students of academic excellence.
Another important fact within our RES activities is the initiative presented by our colleagues from BMI Guatemala, who organized a delegation to help the community affected by the Fuego volcano eruption in that country, on that occasion a whole team moved of volunteers to help the victims.
Mindo Futures is another of our most important allies, with them we have developed other strategies to favor vulnerable groups. For example, we were sponsors of the Annual Kickball Tournament in Miami, Florida, whose mission is to raise funds to support their medical programs. Our team also participated in the tournament, where they gave their best on the field, with social welfare as motivation. Recently, and for the second time, BMI joined the foundation during its medical aid campaign, where we brought more than 30 colleagues from our offices in Quito to support such activities in the community of Mindo, Ecuador.
For BMI, serving the community has never been a matter of imposition but rather a desire to actively contribute to the integral development of our community. We firmly believe that working together with civil society and philanthropic and non-governmental organizations is essential to guide the course of modernity on a path of positive action.
