3 BASIC TIPS THAT WILL HELP YOU PROTECT YOURSELF FROM UV RAYS
Sunbathing is one of the most popular activities around the world, the pleasure of tanning is something that we have all experienced, and in the same way we have also suffered some type of burn from it. This type of skin damage caused by UV rays is a latent danger that is not specific to beach areas. The damage that results from sun exposure depends on multiple factors, such as skin tone, place of residence, as well as the season.
Although it is scientifically proven that the sun's rays stimulate the production of vitamin D in the skin, currently, global climatic conditions are not suitable for exposing ourselves to the sun. For this reason, it is better to obtain vitamin D through food or vitamin supplements.
An essential aspect that should become a daily rule is to avoid sun exposure in the central hours of the day, since UV rays are strongest between 10 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. We must not forget that even if we use umbrellas we are not fully protected against solar radiation.
For the above reasons, we share with you 3 basic considerations to reduce the damage caused by UV rays:
- Make sure to use sunscreen. It is advisable to use a broad spectrum protective cream, with a protection factor equal to or greater than 30. Apply it generously on the skin and repeat every two hours. Keep in mind that you must cover all exposed areas without leaving any free spaces.
2. Wear sunglasses that block UV rays. Sunglasses with an index of protection of 99%-100% against UVA and UVB rays considerably reduce eye problems caused by solar radiation. This is an important point, as we usually only associate damage caused by the sun with the skin.
- Forget about tanning beds and lamps. These devices increase the risk of skin cancer and can damage your eyes even if you wear glasses. Avoid completely using it.
We are living a difficult time in environmental terms, therefore, today more than ever we must take special care and protection against harmful UV rays in order to avoid serious diseases such as melanoma or other diseases.
Following the above tips is a basic beginning that you should take as an immediate action to reduce the risk considerably.
