BMI embraces hope during International Childhood Cancer Day

There is a shocking figure: more than 400,000 children are diagnosed with cancer every year around the world, according to the WHO. This statistic not only reveals numbers, but stories of bravery, struggle, and hope. On the occasion of the International Day against Childhood Cancer, we participated in an event for the Ser Feliz Foundation, which took place at the Argentine Club, in Guayaquil. Where 30 boys and girls were present. Discover more details about this emotional day below.

Bingo morning!

The day began with games of bingo that delighted the boys and girls, even their families who accompanied them. Suddenly, the cry "bingo!" was heard, which generated celebration among those present, in recognition of those who managed to complete their card. The game culminated with the long-awaited awards ceremony, in which BMI presented six $25 checks to the lucky winners.

Let's the show begin!

Later, there was the presentation of the ballet group, made up of eight girls suffering from cancer, who have already performed at the Art Center, with the auditorium full. Demonstrating that his illness is not an impediment to fulfilling his dream of dancing. Subsequently, the president of the Ser Feliz Foundation, Lissette Ortega, spoke a few words, mentioning that “Today is International Childhood Cancer Day and letting parents, boys and girls know that the Foundation is there to help them, as is BMI, not only on this day, but throughout their fight.”, culminated his intervention by introducing the next group, made up of five boys and girls from the choir, who shared an inspiring presentation to reflect on their struggle, singing songs such as: Song to the Sick by Father Aicardo Alzate and a lyric adapted from I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor.

In addition, they were able to recharge their batteries by enjoying a delicious snack.

Time to swim!

The day ended in the pool, so that the boys and girls can cool off, have fun and take advantage of the good weather.

In conclusion, it was a memorable day full of emotions. At BMI, we are committed to actions that promote health and well-being. The joy reflected on the faces of the boys and girls reaffirms the importance of continuing to support those who face this battle and their faith in healing inspires us.
