1. Living claim processes

BMI Colombia will pay the loss as long as the beneficiary proves the occurrence, as well as the amount of the loss, if applicable. You must attach the required documents of the insured and the beneficiary, in case of declaration of presumed death, in addition to the previous documents, the authentic copy of the sentence that declares the presumed death must be sent, in accordance with the provisions of article 1145 of the Code of Trade.

2. Health claim processes

The insured or beneficiaries must, in the event of an accident, present the documents that prove the occurrence and the amount of the claim in the terms of art. 1077 (Commerce Code).

All receipts and invoices must be in accordance with the provisions of the laws on that matter.

3. Means of payment

BMI Colombia has different modalities for the payment of policies, for more information consult here payment methods.

4. How is the policy data modified or updated?

To modify or update the data of a policy you must write an email to the mailbox contactenos@bmicos.com indicating and attaching the following information:

  • In the subject of the email indicate that it is a modification or update of data.
  • Attach a data modification request letter, which must contain the policy number and the name of the insured with identification number and contact information.
  • In the letter you must indicate what the data to be modified will be and you must attach the respective information validation supports in the mail. (Identity documents, etc.)

5. How is the policy cancelled?

To cancel a policy you must write an email to the mailbox contactenos@bmicos.com indicating and attaching the following information:

  • In the subject of the email indicate that it is a Policy Cancellation.
  • Attach a policy cancellation request letter, which must contain the policy number and the name of the insured with an identification number, with contact information, as well as the reason for canceling the policy.
  • You must attach the respective information validation supports in the mail. (Identity documents, etc.)

6. Return of premiums

BMI Colombia Compañía de Seguros de Vida SA, will refund the unearned premium as appropriate. In the event that the return of premiums is considered appropriate due to the fact that they are presented on insurance or a decrease in the insured interest; Said return must be requested in writing by the interested party, with its corresponding justification or support.

To facilitate the processing of the request, it must contain the full name of the policyholder and/or insured, type and identification number, address, city of notification, contact telephone number, and date.

7. INDIVIDUAL LIFE REVOCATION

Life insurance contracts may be revoked by the Policyholder and/or Insured at any time, in which case the redemption value will be returned at the time of revocation. In the event that the Insured has incurred expenses for claims and these have been paid by BMI COLOMBIA, the premium will be considered earned and there will be no right to return or the surplus will be returned.

 

PARAGRAPH: The fact that BMI COLOMBIA receives one or more premiums after the revocation date does not oblige it to grant the benefits stipulated herein nor does it annul said revocation. Consequently, any subsequent payment will be refunded.

 

Causes:

 

  • Unilateral revocation of the insurance contract by the policyholder.
  • cancellation of the policies as not taken or accepted by the client at the beginning of their term.

 

Being necessary to present the following documentation for the revocations requested by the client:

 

  • Written communication signed by the insured requesting cancellation.
  • Copy of the identity document, in case of having assignment values to be returned.
  • FACTA form.
  • Letter signed by the policyholder up to 30 days after the policy is issued

 

All coverage provided by this policy will cease on the earlier of any of these dates:

 

  1. The date the policy is settled
  2. The date of death of the insured
  3. The expiration of the grace period, if the amount necessary for the policy to remain in force has not been paid.
  4. When the insured has reached the age of one hundred and one (101).

8. REVOCATION HEALTH OR EARLY TERMINATION

If an Insured revokes this Policy once it has already been issued or renewed, BMI COLOMBIA will return the unearned portion of the premium. In the event that the Insured has incurred expenses for claims and these have been paid by BMI COLOMBIA, the premium will be considered earned and there will be no right to return or the surplus will be returned.

 

In accordance with the provisions of article 41 of Law 1438 of 2011, BMI Colombia may not terminate the contracts or revoke them unless there is a breach of the obligations by the Insured.

 

Being necessary to present the following documentation for the revocations requested by the client:

 

  • The cancellation request must be made by the policy holder by means of a signed letter indicating their request and the policy number.

 

  • Cancellations will be made with a cutoff on the 1st and 15th of each month, therefore the procedure will be carried out at the next cutoff according to the date of receipt of the request in the company, the unearned premium will be returned for the period not elapsed in accordance to the payment made.

9. COLLECTIVE REVOCATION LIFE

The Policyholder may revoke the basic protection and/or annexes of the policy at any time, by means of written notice. BMI Colombia may only revoke the annexes in force, for which it must notify the policyholder at least 10 calendar days in advance. BMI Colombia may terminate the policy with all its protections at the time of renewal.

 

According to the following conditions:

 

  • Monthly payment policies: cancellations will be made at the billing cutoff of the policy according to the month in which the cancellation is reported.

 

  • Quarterly, semi-annual and annual payment policies: cancellations will be made on the cut-off date of the month of the group in which the novelty is reported, for which the unearned premium of the missing period will be returned according to the payment made. depending on the frequency of the group.
