Claims fell 6,07% in the first semester compared to the same period last year

Written premiums increased 1,16% in the first half. Health premiums increased 16,68% and reached $1.05 trillion.

Despite being in the midst of a pandemic, health insurance claims fell 9,35% in the first half. Carlos Sánchez, president of BMI Seguros Colombia, pointed out that, in his case, the risk of surgical complications policies decreased, due to the decrease in non-essential outpatient medical procedures.

“In the case of medical expense policies, the lower accident rate is due to the decrease in the use of services such as consultations and other face-to-face procedures, which were influenced by fear of contagion,” he explained.
